Question is it normal finding neutral gear hard on brand new bike?

Hi,
I am new to HD family.
Just got my new 2019 iron 883 and already drove first 50 miles.
the only issue i have now is that finding neutral gear is hard for some reason. I need to play with up and down to find that sweet N spot.
is that normal on brand new motorcycles or its just me who needs more practice?

Practice and read the manual. What is doing it is smooth from the start...Not you cam above but similar... Always 1st up unless it says otherwise in your Sporty Owners Manual. Big cruiser says 1st up. What does yours say for the record?

If you got an M8 tour, check your transmission fluid. I was having issues finding N and my fluid was down 7oz. Later found it it transferred into the primary.

Could be the clutch is dragging. Easy to double check the adjustment, there is a set screw behind the derby cover and once that is done the cable free play is set...both should have been set at the factory and/or checked on the PDI at the dealer but maybe it was overlooked. Lots of videos on this, one is at

I'm not sure if it's the bike breaking in, or you simply adjusting to it, but normal on a new one. Mine was the same and now I can find neutral with my eyes closed.

P.S. Don't ride with your eyes closed.

I have a 2017 1200T and from day one it has been very easy to find neutral on the move or stationary.
