Default Sportster 48. Best and worst rpm range for vibration?

From what I have read it seems that identical Sportsters for example 48, do not necessarily vibrate the most at the same rpm.

My 2017 starts to buzz at around 2800 and peaks around 3000 rpm where the mirrors become useless. Then at 4000 it is quite smooth and even smoother at 5000 rpm.

Unfortunately the most common ridning speed in 5th is right in that super buzzing/vibrating rpm range.

Since it is different for other identical Sportsters I was hoping to be able to shift that vibrating rpm range up and away from my most used speed range in 5th.

Any ideas on what could do this?

Apart from using it to pretend you bought a Big Twin , I honestly can't see what fifth gear is supposed to be for on a Sportster .

Well, I did find it very usefull going 117 mph yesterday, but it feels right also at lower speeds IMO.

That clearly depends on riding style and engine intake to exhaust system.

With an exhaust system that favours low end power and torque the engine will happily allow you to run in top gear around 60mph on the flat. There won't be the torque to pull quickly and if an incline is to be negotiated a change down will be required.

I know my bike will do around 60 in second and could run at 70 in 3rd but when the opportunity presents itself I will use 5th gear when I can.

I had the same issue on my 18 Iron 1200 with stock exhaust and rhinehart slip-ons, using a canned tune. I recently switched to a TBR 2into1 and ran a couple auto tune sessions. No buzz at all now. I'm also running a DK Customs air filter and a Power Vision tuner.

The canned tune and slip-ons had me running about 3500 rpms in 5th at about 60 mph and it buzzed like crazy but would smooth out around 70 mph and 3800rpm. Now at 3500 rpm I'm running about 70 and no buzz through the entire range.

Now at 3500 rpm I'm running about 70.
The gearing for HPI bikes is higher so at 70 the engine on my bike is at or around 3000rpm.

That is displayed. Perhaps actual 70 it will be 3100 or 3200.

Gearing was a piece of cake with chains, the buell I had was geared too low for highway.
My thought would be loose a tooth at the wheel if that would make some difference.
Theres plenty of ratio calculators online, so you could put your thoughts of ideal rpms vs speed and hit your goal.
Id be nice to not change the belt if I was doing it.
