Default Installing a 1250 kit advise

Thinking of upgrading my 883 to a 1200 or 1250 . Any advise on doing this? Should I even bother or how reliable is the bike after the upgrade. Is there more to it then swapping pistons and cylinders? What else would I need to change on the bike for the kit to work correctly? I would love to upgrade the bike but the money is not there right now.

This will fill you in: http://hammerperf.com/883conversions.shtml

Here's how to install it: http://hammerperf.com/ttinstallkit.shtml

Reliability is just as good if you install everything properly.

I have to give HammerPerf a big thumbs up too. Aaron & Dan have
been great. My 1250 'upgrade' (crush-ported 1200 heads/cams/30deg pistons/etc) kit is on the way. I'll get some pics of everything
when it gets here.

Go with Hammer. Those guys are great and very helpful. I with I had put this kit in sooner. It runs great with much more power. I have had no issues with it. I put in 1200 gearing to cruse at a lower RPM. You don't have to do this. If you leave the 883 gearing in it will make your bike take off much quicker. You will need an energy one clutch.

Just follow the direction and don't take short cuts. I had no problems. If I can do it at 72 years old you can.

It is separate. Best advice is to go to the Hammer website
and spend a few hours reading the weath of info they have
available about the conversion.

Call Hammer and they will tell you what you need and work up a proposal for you. They will include every thing you need at one price. tell them you heard about them on the XL forum for a 10% discount.

We also have a couple of threads in here by members on their 1250 builds, which are worth seeking out. Your first purchase should be a factory service manual, as that will provide essential guidance! Use Advanced Search for '1250' and have a browse.
