Morning all.. well i have been trying to get a good tune with the FP3 , Whenever i do an autotune from the base map, it is good for a little while, then it
starts to splutter at lows revs and speed. really annoying. I also had the map that V+H told me to load , same problem.
Yesterday i was wondering what to do , when i decided to try the V+H Generic map.
That seems to have worked , removed the splutter and more responsive.
I am not a specialist and have no idea how to change the VE tables or spark ignition tables , don't want to touch them.
But just for anyone , if you are getting splutter try the generic version . It might help..
Going to give it a good run today . See how it stands up for 3 hours of riding.
Which base map and which generic map? They all have proper names.
The beauty of an electronic setup is it does the same thing over and over with unerring regularity. If as you state a tune stops working it is not the tuner that is causing it.
When running in closed loop mode the ECM is taking data from sensors on the bike. The ECM can only work with what it reads.
Do you mean it is running bad during the autotune session?
That would be normal, because autotune disables some of the tables during the session. Autotune is a temporary mode and you must save the map when done.

the bike runs like crap with auto tune on ! You gotta save the map and upload it to V&H through the app. They will adjust and send it back to you
There is no requirement to upload the saved map to V&H if you are happy with the results.
During Autotune you may experience issues such as poor cold start, poor throttle response, and general ride quality issues. These will resolve once you 'Finish' Autotune and the map is re-optimized.
I am not sure "runs like crap" is quite how V&H put it.
Morning , thanks yeah , i have been using it and i know that when it is in training mode , it runs rough , but after i flash it
it is still running rough at low speeds coughs and splutters.
Anyway did 50 miles , to many Sunday drivers. Takes a bit longer to warm up , then runs great .
The map i load is for a 2104 sportsters, HD generic , with Hi flow air cleaner ( i use the hammer)
One of the maps i did , it was 80 Kms on flat road , also some traffic jams ( as V+H ) say get a few of those in it ..Stop start.
Then continued and did 100 Kms over and up and down mountains.
Applied the map , then did it all over again 3 tanks of petrol.
applied and finished the map..still had the same problem.
BUT this generic i used yesterday is running good. }
I was thinking of changing to the Power Vision and the targeted tune .
But at the moment this map is working great .
So going out again today , then to see what happens tomorrow or Wednesday will try an autotune and see if the same problem
happens if it does i will just revert back to the V+H Generic and stay with that . BTW after i have finished the map , i redo the same route to see how the new map performs.
Usually i go through about 5 tanks of petrol to get a map.
I was posting this so that if some else has a similar problem , it might be a good idea to goto the V+H Generic..
