Oil blowing back out of Carb?
 

I just removed my Air Filter (K&N) and I noticed there is a little too much oil on it and pooled in the A/C itself.

I just cleaned and oiled the filter the other day and I do not think I over-sprayed it with filter oil and this looks like motor oil I think.

What would cause it to blow some oil back into the carb?

Would running it in hot weather with the Enricher open a bit (Just to warm it up) cause this?

Or am I just worrying too much and it is probably excess filter oil?

This is a common problem on sporties. How full is the oil tank? If you keep the oil level no more than 1/3 of the way above the ADD mark on the dipstick that should help the situation. If you need to drain some oil from the tank the easiest way is to use a turkey baster to suck out the excess.

At least it is normal and or common.

I was worried about a bad ring or valve or something.

Yeah, the oil is a bit high in the tank.

I'll drain a bit and see how she goes.

Dip stickshould show about 1/2 qt low when cold...this will put it almost right at the full line when hot.

You should always check the oil level when the engine is hot. The 1/3 above the ADD mark I mentioned above is measured when hot.

Installing an oil bypass line is a good idea, I have done it on my bike, but you will likely find that you can solve your problem by keeping the oil level in the tank lower as indicated above. Try that first. Even with the bypass hose, the bypass line will still puke oil if the tank level is to high.

That's true, but if you mount the blowby hose just right, you can keep cagers from tailgating![sm=lildevil.gif]

Didn't think of that mod. But syn oil is a bit expensive to be wasting, hex nuts are cheaper. :D
