Cost of handle bars + installation

RE: Cost of handle bars + installation
Ive tried to get this same answer but didn't want to post it as a question after asking it as a thread - going looking for it:
NOW I'm qouting myself[sm=lame.gif], but this was a thread from earlier this month and I was wrong about the stock bars they are not ape type, however, I have learned it is basically a DIY job unless you are a CLF(Clue Less Freighttrainoperator) - Never really got any idea about cost and I did start out looking over the HD catolage. the problem is- you will need to cross referance closely the bars and goodies (some fit sporttie 883, some 1200 - some not 1200c arrrgh), what brake lines, throtle cables, (god knows what else - you could become a middle school girl over this - lets see there's steel, braided steel, chrome, stock, ooooh that peice of chrome is cute- opps they wont work - call me we'll talk - you get the idea)[sm=WTFsgign.gif][sm=wtf.gif]
Welcome to Harley Davidson - may I help you - time for a beer
The 1200c if I'm not mistaken has ape type bars stock - I was thinking I'd like larger bars and I can turn a wrench, set me up whith a clue as to how many coins are getting tossed in to this - my next little fantisy - someone?

RE: Cost of handle bars + installation
the cost depends on how much stuff you will have to replace. i got pretty lucky and only had to replace my brake line so i got off for a couple hundred bucks, but mine is a 97 and it doesnt have the same tree set up as the latemodel ones. if you have to extend your wiring, replace throttle, clutch and brake cables/lines, the cost with labor could get up in the 5-600 dollar range.
