Default Foaming Oil

H/D says;"Check the oil level when hot". I checked it and was foamed like a M/F! Impossible to check the level. I called H/D and they said it was normal and check it in a few minutes. Now. I wasn't born yesterday but why did the manual say check it hot? It should say check it ina few minutes after riding.

Just a thought.

You have to let the oil settle for a few minutes...You are suppose to check the oil level after its been run for a while...they don't want you checking it after its been sitting all night... so the term "hot" is not suppose to be taken literally.

After I finish riding "it" I always let her cool off a bit before we check the dip stick. Just a thought Dallas.

Hey man, I've been right there with you, but I never seen any foam.

It didn't makemuch sense to me either.

You should be able to check it cold too. Should be able to.

Well. Maybe I'm just stupid, but I check oil all the time on different vehicles. I never seen oil foam unless there is a cylinder head or intake problem.

I think checking it cold is just to make sure you still have some oil left in it.

My mail man drove by our houses the other day with a nice oil trail left behind. A solid line, with some round dots every once in a while.

How far do you think he got before he ran out of oil?

My 07 had intake and head leaks, The local H-D shop repaired it right away.

Make your dealer check it out dude, even if he tells you your crazy. it's always better to be sure. A simple cyclinder pressure check will tell the tale. I'd think they would do that while you wait.
