what is the tube length on sportsters, I'm putting a new frt end on my bike and my bud is gonna use my trees andforks on his wifes 03 sporty?

 

i believe the length varies with models ,as well as spring rates, also the diameter of the rotor mount is different on earlier pre 2000 sporties

 

23.25" for the 73 sportster 1000 is the stock length. I am working on a 73 atm and I know because I have the original repair and PARTS manual. hope this answers your question. you can go up to 1" without affecting the performance however if height is a problem " Wife's Bike" then they make lowering blocks which may be cheaper than buying new shorter forks.
I just came across a 2" extension that screws on top of the fork tube to add 2 to 4 " the length...hope this helps
