Default Side Cover's Removal ?

1200 L White Gold Pearl & Black Pearl

The bike is not one month old & I want to paint the side covers. The left side was no problem to remove, but the right just not sure.

Thought I'd ask before I pry.

The right side with the oil tank is it all one piece? Looks like the cover & the tank behiend it?

Pop it off at the bottom, pull out and lift up. It is a cover just like the left side. The oil tank stays put. Hope this helps.

The oil tank side has 2 openings in the top of the cover which fit over 2 'studs' to hold it in place. These studs hold the cover in place, unlike the worthless 'pressure fit' method on the battery side.

To get it off you need to gently pry the top of the cover so the openings will clear the studs. Easy to bend the cover, so do it carefully.

You might be able to see these 2 holes in the below picture.

OFG is correct. You want to pry the TOP over the studs. It's easier and less risky if you remove the seat first.

OldFenderGuy and cHarley, I see where you guys are right. I did remove mine by going to the bottom first and being very careful. I hope The Patriot did not follow my post before reading yours. You guys are great.
