883 or 883r what's the deal
I've done quite a bit of reading here in the archives. Looking to learn from the pro's here what's the deal with the 883 or 883r (the differences). As I recently "acquired" an 883r with 1200 kit and chopper kit, I am confused when looking at foward controls as many advertised say not for 883r. Is there anything major in difference on the 883 to "r" that parts like foward controls matter, I know I sound a bit niave here but I'm frazzled trying to find the right parts.

RE: 883 or 883r what's the deal
Hi, not sure exactly what your asking here but if its what are the main differences between the standard 883 & the 883R then neither should have forward controls, they are standard only on the C models only butallot of people change them for personnel comfort so that's no big deal. The 883R came with twin disc brakes up front, the 883 only had a single, & the 883R had a black engine finnish as opposed the polished alloy of the standard 883. Hope this helps.[/align]

RE: 883 or 883r what's the deal
I have an 883r.The reason that alot of forward controls don't fit is because of the stock 2-into-1 exhaust. The one exhaust pipe that curves towards the front gets in the way.

OK, so the differences is really exhaust set up.Anyone have the forward controls on the 883R? If so what type of controls are you using?
Argh, this ain't easy. [:@] |

Post a pic of your bike, if you have the bike in the Avatar, than the forward controls should fit.
Better yet, what kind of exhaust do you have? |

I have forwards on my 1200r. The standard HD forward controls will fit your bike as well.

RE: 883 or 883r what's the deal
I have the xlh 883, its the Hugger and not the 883R. I am trying to learn the differences between the 2 bikes. Sort of see why certain parts don't fit on the "r". I inadvertaintly put an R next to my initial post here, it was supposed to be an H.
Sorry to have caused confusion to the thread here, but I'm looking to tap into the vast knowledge so anything I end up buying especially if its online I avoid making mistakes. |
