Default Removing the riser

I took off the riser today to try to figure out if I can move the speedo down closer to the triple tree to put some narrow glide apes on it. I know it can be done with the right parts can someone help me with this. I need a complete parts list, cables eletrical everything. Im good at this stuff but dont have alot of time to research I might even send you a harley shirt if you have all off the parts list I need Going to put 16in apes on it

Mount it like mine using an older style XL/Dyna speedo bracket. Its mounted to the top tree where the chrome trim cover used to be.
I just converted the ind. lights from my 06 custom integreted speedo/riser to the single gauge bracket with a few cheap parts. The bracket and light parts needed can all be had for about $25. If its not tall enough for you to see this way just use ext. sockets or tubing to raise it up. There are some better views in my gallery.

I have been thought aboutremoving the stock sweptback riser on my 2002 XL1200C and installing post type but couldn't figure out what to do with the speedo and indicator lights. Do you have more pics of your set up? Did you reuse the stock indicator lights?

Turn your Risers around backwards. Everything will fit back on. You turn the speedo in the bracket so that it's right side up. Your original riser cap will now mount upside-down and you can fit your indicator lights back in.

Hey Shoat,

I used:

V-Twin 95-Up single guage holder (speedo and lights) from DCP http://www.discountcycleparts.com/xc...number=39-0212, You can also get this as well as the risers and top clamp cheap from: http://stores.channeladvisor.com/deb.../?sck=18627390(my current risers are 3" straight round top from JP cycles). As for switching the lights over from the stock riser setup you just need the following:
Speedo/Tach Rear cushion gasket (you'll reuse the front one) #67104-95 cost $5.62 Warning light Bezel #68513-95 cost $1.64 Warning light housing #68516-95 cost $7.03 Warning light jewel cover #68551-95 cost 3.25. You can get it from your dealer or for about 20% through www.zanottimotor.com which is where I got mine from.

By the way... keep in mind that if you go with straight risers with your current bar set up unless they're pullbacks)you'll have more of a reach. The hgt. of my mini-apes with pullback and 3" risers give me plenty of pullback but if I had stock bars I would be leaned over to reach them. I think the stock riser setup was something like 4" hgt. with 2" pullback which in theory puts the bars about 5" closer to you than if you had short straight risers.

Thanks for the info. I have a 2005 Custom with the sweptback riserand I'm not sure howthe sweptback riserwould look turned backward. Turning the straight riser like on my co-workers 2003 Custom would work great. Thanks again.

Thanks for the info you provided also. Sounds like if would work great. I would like to put on a set of risers approximately 4" tall with a 2" pullback. I'd also like to install a 2" mini-speedometer and a 2" mini-tach. Thanks again.

I must have been extremely tired when I wrote the last post.Not only did I sound like a nuckle-draggin' mouth breather but I also got the year model of my bike wrong.

Ahh, sorry 'bout that, I see it now. I know someone here went with shorter risers (No pullback from a dyna), and a 01-03 cap turned around backwards. The speedo mounted up and the lights as well. I was going to go with the Dyna speedo mount and do the relocate thing... If I am gonna end up doing that I might as well just go with a mini speedo and do a side mount down off the engine block...always liked that look. Unfortunately, gotta go with the budget move for now. Short risers and the flip for me. Good luck. Can't wait to see it done up on your scoot.
