Highest Mileage Sportster
I was just wondering how many high mileage Sporsters are out there? At least in my area most bikes have low mileage. Though I di see one Electra Glide with 97000, all original completely stock including the factory jetting. I've read that the new Sporsters are 100000 motors anyone hear the same.[:'(]

How did I miss this thread???
I currently have 306,000 miles on my 2006 1200R. Original engine died in May 2017 at 206,000 due to a seal from an oil cap falling into the oil tank and blocking oil flow. Until that happened I was using about a quart of oil every 5,000 miles with it all going out the breathers. It did not burn any oil or smoke.
I replaced the engine with a used engine from a 2006 1200C off ebay. It had 17,000 on it at the time and now has 117,000.
The only major issue I had was due to the mainshaft bearing on the transmission going at 206,000 miles. The cage cracked and slid inside the case allowing the ***** from the bearing to sit on the bottom half of the bearing. I split the cases, replaced all the bearings, and put it back together. It died on the test ride 2 miles from my house.
I did not baby this bike but don't abuse it either, unless you consider riding for 11 days straight covering 8-10,000 miles abuse. Most of the miles are highway miles. Oil changes were roughly at 5,000 miles, some a little less and some more, and a handful over 8-12,000 miles. I ran HD Syn3 oil in it since the odo turned 20,000 in 2009. I started doing an oil analysis at 100,000 miles and when it died 100,000 miles later the metals in the oil had not changed much.

RE: Highest Mileage Sportster
my ol 83 had 53000+ miles on the odometer when i got it. put about 1000 miles on it in a couple of months and lost the speedo/odometer while accelerating. damn speedo only went to 85. rode the bike around for 2 months without one, and found one in j+p for the bike. since then ive put 8000+ miles on it. talked to the guy i bought it from, and he said that would have been the third known speedo put on the bike so who knows how many miles it has on it. i figure i put about 10,000 miles on her in the past 16 months. how bout them miles!
