Hey guys got the cables today for my Dyna bars, and when I put them on they are bound up some where. If I pull the carb off and let it hang down alittle they will work fine. These cables are not HD cables. I'm going crazy here, trying to get this thing back together! I should have left it alone![:@]
Check to see that there are no sharp bends in routing of the cables. The next thing is check at the bars themselves. When you tighten the clamps down it is very important to tighten all the screws down evenly. I have found that most of the time binding is one of the two reason I have mentioned. You can check the clamping by loosening the screws, and seeing if the throttle returns freely. Patience my man, patience.
I had a binding up situation when changing the bars, the cable guide under the tank near the ignition switch needed to be flipped and turned around (basicly instead of bottom, long end back - it had to be over top, long end forward) - but with everything back together, it would bind. M.r Bandsaw gave "sir-binding-up-cable-guide" a little trim in the front and eliminated the binding
I think it was the cables, I got HD cables today, it they seem to work, but I broke the front brake light switch thing[:@]. When it rains it poors on me. Alittle gas and a Zippo is all I need![sm=headbang.gif]
Raj,
I am getting ready to put the dyna bars on my sporty as well. I have been doing some research on the forum regarding the different cables and lines needed. What did you end up going with as far as the cables and brake line? Also did you have to extend the wiring? I saw a couple of different wiring kits for handle bar swaps in J&P cycles on line.
We have been having some decent riding weather in the ATL so I have been waiting on the weather to turn before getting started on mine.
