Back in about '77 I worked at a Mobil station that still had full service. We got commission on "sales" of tires and oil. Now this was an affluent suburb but us pump jocks never seem to get in on tire sales and oil changes. I did however learn how to sell a quart of oil to the rich ladies who came through the full serve lane. I wasn't too bright but I did figure out why we kept empty oil cans on the rack. Wait a minute did I just say oil cans? God I'm old!!!
Hey when I was in college in I could fill up my VW for three bucks and buy a case of Marlboro Reds for$2.50. No matter how broke I was there was always enough for gas and smokes.
I remember gas wars in the 60's regualr $0.10 a gal. When I was a kid working in a gas station not uncommon for alot of people to pull in full service and get a buck or two's worth.
I remember paying $0.19 for gas back in the '60's.
A friend bought a Honda 250cc Elite scooter to save on gas for his commute. He gets worse mileage than my Sportster - I get 2 miles per gallon more, so watch out for what you get!
