I'm a moron
So this morning I pull into the gas station on my way to work, pull up to the pump and get off the bike......Notice a step missing there? Yeah me too, no kickstand :(. As soon as I start to get off I feel it begin to lean left so I try and stop it, didnt work out so well, layed it down gently on it's side. Luckily no injuries or scratches, but of course the gas station was packed and everyone looked at me like I just f'd thier daughters. Why does sh!t always happen with an audience?

RE: I'm a moron
I guess if you HAVE to lay it down......thats the place and circumstance to do it [:@]
Glad you and the bike are okay.... But I'm sure you'll laugh at it soon :) When sheet like that happens you just have to jump up and look around like someone else just knocked your bike down OR look like that what you wanted to happen and everyone else is CRAZY Ride Safe --Fellow NJ'in |
RE: I'm a moron
Yeah, thats what I should have done, luckilyI was sporting the full face today(route 78 sucks with bugs and rocks in the AM), no one saw how red my face got.

RE: I'm a moron
if it helps you feel better.... heard of three people around here that did the same thing this spring.
OBVIOUSLY it was too long of winter. Glad nothing was harmed(except maybe a little pride;)) |
RE: I'm a moron
I almost did that once. Fortunately, I was able to keep the bike from falling, but it was close.

Yeah, sh*t happens. My first ride out this year I was wearing my full face because it was 33 degrees, and I think the full face made me feel like I was still riding my snowmobile, came up to a stop light and forgot to put my feet down. Caught the bike before it went down, looked to the car to my right and there are two 10 years old kids laughing at me. Oh well could have been worse. I bet now, you will check that kickstand two or three times from on now when parking.

Did it last year on a poker run.
I'm not sure what's more embarrising, doing it in front of people in cars or doing it in front of other bikers. One thing I can tell you is the guy in the car will laugh quietly to himself. Your ridding buddies on the other hand will laugh as loudly and long as possible,,,, ask me how I know.... |
RE: I'm a moron
Don't feel too bad... I did theclose to thesame thing at a bike show... Luckily the only damage was a small scratch on the front brake lever and a small scratch on the right rear turn signal housing.
The worst damage was that HUGE scratch on my pride! Anyhow, it gave me a good reason to buy the mini-bullet signals I am running now. |
