Default Help with horn please - sick goose

I don't know what to look for or where to start to fix this.
I took off today, passed by one of my clients houses, and they were outside - I honked and waved, no problem.
I had occasion to honk a couple of more times on my ride.
When I came back home, my newest adopted shelter pup would not get out of the way - I honked, first time okay - second time a sick goose with laryngitis sound came out. I honked maybe 10 times more, and out of those 10 times only twice did it sound right.
What in the heck is that about? How do I get the goose out of my scoot?
TIA

Check electrical connections first and make sure you have a good ground. There is a plug in the back of the horn you can take out and there is a screw behind it to adjust the pitch. You just have to experiment until it sounds right.

Check the ground. I think it goes from the horn to the top motor mount. My 883 doesn't have the side mount horn and the OL is at Outer Banks Bike week, so I can't look at her 1200C, but I think I've heard this before (no pun intended).

Harleyscuba,

Your OL is at bike week without you?

Sounds like great time to toot your horn!

Amzie,

Yeah, fersure first check all electrical connections.....Horns pull lots of amps and need tight/clean connections....once they arc, they need cleaned or replaced.

the mounting bolt runs strait though the horn diaphram... if yoiu have it too tight it will distort the sound to a "sick goose" ajust the bolt and that will fix your issue

It happened to me last year(5000miles), I replaced it with a Hella horn, it worked fine since then.
The factory horn sucks [:'(]

Yep, I had the same problem before.

Ditto all of the above.
After-market horn replacement:
From Advance Auto Stores
FIAMM model # B72012
It says "125 db low tone" for the description.

Thank you everyone-!!

The reason I closed up shop, & went riding yesterday is the very cold front that has now sat down on us this morning.
As soon as it warms back up enough to set my **** down on the pavement, I will try what you have suggested and let you know.
I hope it as easy a fix as you have experienced.

The only one that would pay attention to it now is another goose, and not many of them pull out in front of me.
