Default Cornering on suggested speed limit signs--10mph over?

I am new, and am beginning to find a safe generic speed on top of the suggested cornering speeds, (yellow sign with an arrow in almost a full circle, or a windy arrow). On unfamiliar blind corners upon seeing a posted let's say 20 mph, I figure I could safely go into it around 25-30 mph. Does anyone have any rule of thumb, or a general practice of this kind of driving? I know there's so many variables, this may be a weird question to answer. Just curious.

The speed limit IS the speed limit. Refresh my memory...what's a speed limit?

usually, on marked curves, 10mph-over-suggested is excitingly fine. of course no curve/sign combo is perfect so keep your eyes peeled and use your head.

also, this only applies to smooth surfaces. i know of a twisty road that would be like sex if it didn't have so many potholes.

That is the general rule I follow on unfamiliar roads is the surface going into the turn is good.

I just try to keep it upright, since gas is more expensive I have been rideing conservately. Whats the hurry, usually when I pass some one, they pull up next to me at a red light and I feel a little stupid.

If the speed limit is 20 I do 20. If it is an area I am not familiar with I may go slightly slower. No need to push it.

I am not that disciplined! I love dragging the boards and pushing it around corners, but I am old and silly at times!
