Kewl Reservoir Clocks...
I really like the Kewl front-brake reservoir clock that was highlighted in a recent "American Iron" magazine issue. They aren't inexpensive, but I like their concept of using it for the rervoir cap - it looks like it's supposed to be there. I emailed http://www.kewlmetal.com to find out if they made their front-brake reservoir clock for my 2005 XL1200R, and the answer was a resounding "YES!".
I was referred to one of their dealers by their website from whom I ordered the clock for my bike. When it arrived it was immediately obvious that it was too small and the wrong shape. I emailed Kewl again and they said the model clock I was shipped (#248) was the right one for my bike (I have a stock reservoir cap). They couldn't understand the problem and asked if I could send them pictures of my reservoir. I went to my shed and snapped off a couple of pics in the 18* weather we're having and then had to hound them for the RIGHT model number to order. They finally informed me that they were in the process of making the clock now for my bike and it would be ready in 6 to 8 weeks before one would be available.
Yeah, right, "...we sure do make them for your bike - just give us 6 to 8 weeks to design and make them". I have felt deceived from the get-go now. Their dealers can't be blamed because they were told by Kewl Metal what bikes these clocks fit. Has anyone else tried and been successful in mounting one of these clocks on a 2004-2006 XL? If so, I'd love to hear about it.
