Default Cycle Shack Slip-ons backfires bigtime

I just put a pair of Cycle Shack slip-ons on my '08 Nightster and the thing backfires bigtime on deceleration.

My dealer said that doing the remap download "might" help a little, but it wouldn't remove the backfiring completely.

Can anyone offer advice on what I can do to eliminate the backfiring on deceleration using these cycle shack slip-ons?

Thanks,
Raz

thats normal..........seriously, you shouldn't have any problem with cycle shack. I have had them in the past. Mine were on a carburator model and re-jet was all it needed. As good or better than screamin' eagle.

Hummm, never had that problem with my cycle shacks. Didn't do any carb work at all when I put them on. Did the carb work after I added the Screamin Eagle Air Cleaner.

Could be the different engine size though.

I have an 06 carb and stage one. I like mine. Minimal backfire on decel. Try not to let off the throttle so hard.

My Cycle Shacks also pop and rumble during deceleration. I like it! Reminds me of a 1971 Nova that I owned that had 12" Cherry Bombs on it!

I've got cycle shack slip-ons,k&n a/c, re-jetted and Screaming Eagle 7000rpm ignition module. No backfiring or popping on decel on mine.

Hell, my 1200C still has a stock powertrain (pipes coming via UPS thursday, VERY excited) and it pops a lot. I was worried about other issues in addition to the popping on decel, but the dealer went over the whole bike and told me to get back to riding the **** out of it because it's running fine. As long as you're not having detonation (which you'd probably know about one way or another) you're probably fine.

Did you put any hi temperature copper sealer (NAPA) where the slipons slide into the headers? I had to do that to stop the air leaking by and causing pops.

My Cycle Shacks rock. No pops ever.
