Default replacing gauge on a nightster with XR1200 Gauge

I was wondering if anyone here has switched there gauge assembly to one with a tach? I have an 09 Nightster and i would love to get a gauge assembly for a XR1200. Is this possible. here is a link to the gauge i want to use.

HD makes a tach kit for your bike. Has all the wiring, all you need! they are about 275.00

The kit sitting at my local dealer is just like the XR. it has a tach identical in size to the speedo and gives you a new bracket that mounts them togather on top of the handlebar.

Right around $1100, since I was the geuine pig for my local HD guys I got it for $750. I saved $90 on parts and they only charged me for 2 hours of labor. They said it was a 4.5 hour job and that is what they would charge for any other request they got for them. It took 2 months for me to get all the parts in.

I'd really love to do this, looks REALLY nice and i hate not having a tach.
....but $1,100 is awfully steep.

Anyone done it themselves..? I reckon it can't be TOO hard. Other than having having to re-run all the wires and squeeze the harness back between the frame.
