Default Removing oil from sporty bottom end

I'm changing the engine oil in my Sportster. The engine case does not have a drain plug. How do I get the oil out?

There is a hose on the bottom that is clamped to the frame. There is also a clamp on the hose itself with a screw. Remove the clamp containing the hose from the frame. Loosen the screw on the other clamp. The frame clamp plugs the hose. Remove the plug from hose and oil will drain out. Don't forget to remove the oil fill cap, this will allow oil to drain faster.

That drains the oil out of the oil tank. But, not out of the engine. The line you are speaking of comes from and only drains the tank.

My 2006 doesn't have a plug. But I spoke to an old timer and we're gonna do in the morning. It's gonna be a good. Keep the rubber down and helmet on.

You do, look under the frame, it is in the middle attached to a rubber hose.
It is a dry-sump system, you don't have to drain the oil in the crankcase, the oil tank drain tube is the only one to drain oil.

Dry sump is correct, just drain via hose and refill with fresh oil. Dont forget to replace oil filter. No worries.

That hose is straight below where you swing arm attaches, there is a triangle looking plate that the hose plugs on to, pull that off and point it at a suitable container. I cant believe the trouble you have had getting a straight answer for such a simple question, especially over in the general chat, Just ignore them, I suspect some of 'em don't have lifes. I looked at your photos, nice looking sporty. Ride safe.

I am in trouble of sounding like an A__H___ here but changing your oil is so basic that it goes beyond all logic that this question would need to be asked...dosent anyone look in an owners manuel anymore or buy a shop manuel?

Look I have asked my share of questions but I at least try to do a little reasearch first....next time google "sportster oil change" you will get detailed instructions with pretty pictures.

ok I'm sure I'll get flamed for this....please spare me the "hey we are trying to help this guy out" "this is a friendly Board" crap I know I am way out of line and I am sorry for voiceing my opinion.

By the way there is a little drain tube held on by a clamp under ur bike this drains the oil, don't forget to change the filter also...
