Default 883 Engine Guard Bolts

I have a friend who is trying to mount an Engine Guard on their 883, but has lost the mounting bolts some time ago when they opened the package and placed away in storage during move.

Does anyone here know where someone would be able to get some bolts?

I imagine at a Home Depot or Lowe's but what number will fit?

Could they call HD and have them give them a part number or extra set of bolts?

Thanks

Any HD Dealer will have them. I haven't installed mine yet. I'm having a hard time getting the factory bolts off the bike! Those suckers are on there REALLY GOOD!

Use a hammer and tap on them to break the internal air locks or crack up any paint that may have caused a seal.

Maybe try a torque wretch if that don't work.

I'll have to check my local HD.
Thanks

A torque wrench should never be used to loosen bolts.

Could he mean TORX. Cause thats what the heads are on the stock upper bolts. On the 06 and 07 that I put them on. I used a TORX HEAD on a 3|8 rachet with a cheater pipe for levarage. Came right off My 07 883L and My 06 1200C. Was a easy install.

A breaker bar would be best for real tight bolts.

Bolts can even be had at the hardware store.

The hammer worked! Thanks! Got the guard on and the bike looks great. It doesn't stick out the sides nearly as far as the guard on my Deluxe does. But for a Sportster, that's good. Gives the whole bike a "bigger" look too.

Did you use the HD brand or aftermarket? Were they really hard to put on? Got a HD set a couple of months ago and have yet to put them on.Back then wasn't sure if I wanted them or not.

Awesome!

I imagine, smaller bike, smaller bars. Really huge bars would not look good on a Sporty. See my album and let me know if the bars are about the same size on the 883 I ride, or you got something smaller aftermarket.

No torque wrench, one that is typically used to take the wheels off a car without the use of hydraulic air.

A torque wrench is hydraulically pressurized internally to give your own hand power an extra boost of power in pressure.
Not really sure how they work but do a darn good job or getting hard to loosen bolts off most things.

Of course the Torx heads are on most of the bolts so it could be the ones he is mentioning.
The engine guards that I have seen on the two bikes that I have seen them installed on have hex head bolts that require a wrench.
