when i had my 883 i just bought what was the cheapest. k&n are good but cost like 15-20 bucks. I would go to a local non hd dealer shop and buy what ever they had. My current bike dosent even have a filter
There are a number of aftermarket filters that "fit" the Sporty EVO. The problem is that many of these filters are 5, 10 or 20 micron and that spec is not listed on the product. While the K&N oil filter (KN-171) is popular with many people it's a 10 micron filter.
The HD EVO was designed to use a 30 micron filter and using something smaller is likely to send the filter into bypass which is the same thing as not having a filter. The HD oil filters are a good quality filter made by Champion and costs me less than $9.00 for the chrome filter at the dealer.
