I did a mid glide for a friend. We elected to go with a 3 degree rake also. It turned out super sic. He loves it.
Before you go total wide glide, consider a mid glide with 41MM tubes vice the stock 39's....the fatter tubes satisfy the beefy look you want without overwhelming the rest of the bike and keep it balanced looking.

I'm running a chromed upper/lower WideGlide front end, with the 41mm tubes, braided brake cable and chromed 4-piston caliper.
Just my opinion of course, but I think it looks pretty good, and the longer wheelbase and 'stiffer' 41mm tubes really help to firm up the suspension and get rid of the choppy feeling I noticed with stock 39mm setup and short wheelbase.

deadhead, the fatbob tank ain't necessary with the fatter custom tank you already have, but it looks good if you go that route.
oldfenderguy, you might want to consider sliding your fork tubes up an inch or two to relevel the frame with the ground.....not only will it look better, it will handle much better and also allow you better footing and not lean over so much on the jiffy stand.
