Sportster Fuse Box ?
#4
My 96 has 4 fuses, 50 amp, starter relay, etc. under the seat. It is mounted to the cross member by the back of the seat.
My fuses are obvious, but to change my starter relay I have to drill 2 rivets and slide the whole thing up and out. I replaced the rivets with mill tips for easier access.

Your fuse panel is under the triangular cover on the left side of the bike just below the seat. Just pull that cover off, and no need to un-screw the three bolts in the cover, as those bolts just lead to three rubber grommets that the bolts pop in & out of.

Ok gotta ask, what the hell is a mill tip fastener? I know what a mill tip is as a tool used for tunneling or boring and I've Googled for "mill tip fastener" without results. Does this fastener happen to go by some other "common" name?

I hate to Hijack this thread but this weekend I found that as I rode my fuse box cover would come off and swing down and hit my leg. at first I thought it was because I didn't snap it into place properly but then it happened again while doing 80 mph on the highway. Scared the crap out of me. I had to use a zip tie to keep it closed.
Has this happened to anyone else????

Mill Tips are the same type "sorta" (self tappers) but have carbide drill tips that can be over a inch long for fastening material to 1/2 thick or thicker Red or Grey Iron. They also qualify as a certified connection (underwritten) for their particular application. X amount of Mill Tips = X length of weld and qualify for shear and pop strength.

Sorry, they are just self tappers. I just said the name out of habit from my iron working days.
