Default Removing nightster rear fender for paint ?

Hi. Want to get my rear fender re painted. I have the service manual. Is it really as involved as the manual puts it to remove ? Man, talk about a lot of steps ? Anyone that done it have any tips for me ? Thanks

It's actually just a matter of taking off the seat and taking out a few bolts. I think the rear lights will be the pain in the ***, but they aren't too bad. good luck. Take it SLOW when putting it back on. Be sure to watch those fender struts or your new paint is toast.

Nah, I took mine off and I didn't even come close to having to take the friggin wheel off!!! Just take off your seat, disconnect the taillights from the harness, take your signals off, take the strut covers off, and start un-bolting the fender. Once you start tearing into it, it goes pretty smooth.

+1 on this. Advise that you put blue painter's masking tape all over the sides of the newly painted fender before reinstall. Then peel it before you bolt everything up.

Hm. I had heard others saying they had to remove their wheel, but I can't remember what part it was that caused it... It was only on the nightsters. Well whatever, I believe motordrum, so do it up!

I took my fender off chopped it along with part of the frame and the coverings, all with the wheel still attached.
