Default coil/ingnition relocation question...

I've been reading up on old post's but, have a question I couldn't find an answer to. On a 04' can you move the coil between the jugs or does it have to hang off the side like most I've seen?

I'd like to have the coil between the jugs, then the ignition and choke on the choke bracket... I'm thinking that's too much crap to stick in one spot. Anyone have alternatives, how did you do yours? Pictures would be a great help here.

Thanks,
Jason

IMO, if ya sandwich it in between the jugs, the heat is going to cook the coil after awhile.

I was concerned about the heat too, which is why I hung mine on the side even though I'd raised the tank 1.25" in front.

I cut the metal bracket that holds the coil and ignition switch only leaving enough to hold the ignition switch. The rest of the bracket went to the trash.

I moved the coil to just below the front tank mount. I have one bolt through the hole in the front of the frame and the top end of the coil is tie-strapped.

Just being different, but I have noticed with the coil moved and tank lift the bike runs a little cooler especailly in traffic.

Man, if you get it mounted up under your battery PLEASE take pics and post them up. That's what I'd like to do but, haven't seen anything about doing it that way. I saw someone had their key under the oil tank which wiuld be nice too.

Couple threads over, oldskool stuck his coil behind the horn cover and relocated the horn, I would think that would put the coil out of heats death grip from the jugs

Damn it...should never read these threads...now I am wanting to try a new location. If wife doesn't kill me for spending another Saturday in the shop all day think I will try to find a way to locate coil around the battery, maybe with a smaller battery I could locate it behind the battery cover? Also need to relocate the switch somewhere mid bike.
