09 Iron Dyno Results
Did the Screaming Eagle 1200 conversion, after 1000 mile break in period had it Dyno'ed, here are the results:
HP: 79.87
Torque: 78.57
Pretty happy with the results.......
Had my 09 Iron Dyno'ed, here are the results.
HP: 57.47
Torque: 54.75
Are these numbers typical? Any other results out there?
2009 Iron 883
Stage 1
Vance & Hines Side Shots
Heavy Breather
SE Super Tuner
Thinking of doing the 883 to 1200 conversion, is it worth it? Which kit would you guys suggest (Screaming Eagle or NRHS)?

If you're talking stockish 1200 HD parts. You could be 80s/90s using high performance and Buell parts. Probably would take a 1300 build to break 100. What kind of numbers are you looking for?

seriously
Ya, ya, ya, I ride with a few guys with Nightsters and Dynas and have no problem hanging with them at all with my Iron, till about 80. So say what you will about the Iron. The Iron gets a lot more attention than the Nightsters/Dyna's for sure...... I just wanna build a sleeper and the Iron fits me perfectly.

Friend, the Iron is the best buy out there. It's 2K less out the door than any 1200 Nightster, it has cast wheels(ask me about that when you pick up a nail on the side of a dark road and you gotta pull the wheel and tube and all I need do is insert a plug and re inflate with a C02 cartridge), it also has totally blacked out engine cases, and it has a lower geared primary sprocket that allows it to eat any stock 1200 alive once cheaply converted to 1200.
Then if a guy like me decides to allow folks like Zippers to rework my heads, you willl discover that my 883 heads allow much more porting and better results for the same money a 1200 guy might spend.
Yeah, my Iron is both a show boat and a go boat for a lot less money and effort in the end.......Been there and done that, and I know enuff to speak good advice and not spout ignorant insults.
Oh, another thing....My 883 Iron even after converted to 1200 will forever be registered as an 883 and will always be much cheaper to insure than a factory 1200 because most insurance companys inflate their rates above 1000 cc's....did you know that?
So yeah, lets talk money big mouth.....Looks like you spent 2K more than us Iron guys for the same power we can have for 500, plus you will forever pay more in insurance, PLUS we will leave you at each light. HEH, HEH!
Ya know, I'm at a biker bar last week when a pal pulls up on his new 1200 low.....I'm driving my dressed out road king and he starts making excuses about why he bought a 1200 sporty compared to my road king....I stop him and tell him his only mistake was to buy a new 1200, not an 883 and convert it. I tell him if he wants to stand there and dig his toe in the dirt and make excuses, then he should kick himself in the *** for paying 2K more for a 1200 than an 883.....To make him feel a little better I reminded him I too had a factory 1200 sitting at home where I made the same mistake he did back in '07.....Did I make him feel better?....I guess so because he bought me a beer.
Just wait till he sees my new 883 Iron. I won't be digging my toe in the dirt making excuses against his new 1200 low.....I'll soon be eating his *** at the lights and really rubbing his face in it........Now if I could just steal his girlfriend, it would be complete.

Er Austen, your scoot is a Nightster 1200, not an 883 Iron....DUH
The original poster was discussing 883 dyno results......You have an 883 that you want to compare?...If not, why don't you go over to the touring bike section and compare your 1200 with my 96" road king?
