Default Help with a throttle/cable issue PLEASE!!

Hello anyone, I can't figure out how the throttle cables run in the control housing and hook up (bought it broken) I found some diagrams, and know the tension spring is missing, but have too much cable. no matter how I run it.

Umm, can we start by at least listing the year and model of the bike?

Don't shoot, it's a 2000 ultra ground pounder with an s&s motor, they use 1999 softail stuff, someone told me today at a motorcycle swapmeet that I have to use s&s throttle cables, (stinks cause I now have 2 sets of cables that are useless to me) Thanks, any ideas I have a manual, but it's not real detailed.

I have a '99 Ground Pounder sitting out in the garage awaiting a little TLC.
If your bike has an S&S carb on it, it will use cables specific to those carbs. Not sure how they differ from HD cables, but I'll guess it's the length of travel in the cable. The hand controls are late model HD clones. To replace the cables, remove the three screws from the control housing to allow you to split it open. The throttle cables use slip in ferrules like a late model HD, rather than the screw in cables from the older models. Run the cable through the housing, put the barrel over the round ball on the end of the cable and insert the barrel into the grip. Make sure you have which is throttle and which is return all sorted out. I usually find it real easy if I remove the carb first. If you don't want to do that, you may find it easier to install the carb ends first, then the handlebar ends.
Hope this helps
