Hi!

How hard is to fit an aftermarket topcase/tourpack on a Sportster?
Will the regular , per eg. Givi, brackets fit or will it demand some fabrication?

Easy as heck. If you're riding solo, there's a quick detachable bracket that sits right over the passenger seat. If you want it stickin' out back, a sissybar with luggage rack is probably the easiest way to go.

I need to retain the 2 up capacity of the bike, but I don't wanna go the side bags way.
They're to freakin expensive and have little room.
As I need to carry around my laptop and other stuff to go to work, the topcase is the way to go.
Maybe I can adapt the Givi (per eg.) brackets of make my own to fit the plate where the hard bag attaches to...
Plus, I'm in Portugal and some parts are hard or expensive to get.

An HD sissybar, luggage rack and a Sadddlemen's bag work great for me. I can unclip it, take it by the handle and walk in, not leaving anything on the bike. You will be surprized, and probably not too happy, with how top heavy a tourpak makes your bike; full or empty.

I've had other bikes with topcases, not a problem.
Saddlebags and bagpacks are not a good solution to me. I really need a hard, waterproof box.

If it's what you want, you'll make it work.

The Givi trunk *should* bolt right to the luggage rack that's on the sissybar. Since you'll probably want the beckrest on the front of the Givi, you can go without the uprights or one of the super short uprights that will only come up to the hinge of the trunk.

The luggage rack bolts right to the sideplates and leaves a square channel for the uprights. There's no reason, other than aesthetics, to fill in the channel, but a couple inches of square stock in each one won't cost too much.

I could measure my rack so you'll know the dimensions you're after on the Givi mounting plate if you go this route.

Here's a little information in case you're not 100% against hard saddlebags - I have a set of HardStreet saddlebags that hold my 17" laptop EASILY, waterproof and lockable. They're f'in HUGE inside and not particularly expensive. They're $400 for the set and that's much less than the Givi trunk, side plates and luggage rack will cost you - and they'll hold a LOT more than the Givi trunk.

The Givi trunk should be cheapper here. I think the Maxia goes for 200€, plus another 100€ for the brackets, that I wont need.
On the other hand it's almost imposible to get the VIP/Mutazu bags in Europe.
I have no prblem getting it overseas, but the costs would rise.
