Wow.. I would say get some RK shocks and go from there that way if they don't make that big of a difference your not hurting your wallet too much..

I'm reading this thread with much interest. I would like to soften up the ride on my Sporty too. I have a couple questions about the Road King shocks though.
1) how much air pressure, if any, are you guys running in the RK shocks on a Sportster?
2) aren't all the touring frame Harleys the same shock? Would I have to get shocks from a RK or could I get them from a Glide or Ultra and so on?

I would say check out works performance for some shocks built to your weight and riding style. 1000% better than anything from progressive for about same $$ as 440's

12" progressive shocks and sundowner seat change was awsome
