Default turn signal problems

did a quick search and did not see anything, hope i am not asking a question that has already been answered. anyway, i am having turn signal problems on my 1994 883 xlh hugger. the right side of the bike works fine, front flashes dim to bright, rear flashes from off to on, the left side however the front moves from low to bright, the turn signal indicator stays on, and the rear does nothing. if i switch the right rear and left rear wire, the curcuit works blinking the now left rear and right front, with the left front still acting as it did, and the now right acting as the left. in short i am thinking that it has to be the relay, but i dont want to rip into anything else without someone who knows more than me. btw, it looks like someone has already monkeyed with the wiring, as i dont see a license plate light. i assume i need that to pass inspection. thanks, GTG

Default update

ok, i checked all the fuses, and took my volt meter to test power. the right circuit has power, however the left rear circuit is totally dead. i assume this means either, A) relay, B) switch however there is power to the left front, it just not blink, or C) there is a broken wire somewhere between the front and rear. any ideas, or where to start trouble shooting would be greatly appreciated. thanks, GTG

Check the wires in/under the rear fender going to the the faulty blinker....You may have bottomed out & rubbed through it on a ride.

i replaced the wires to the taillights and checked them by crossing the right and left side. the wiring is good, there is just no power coming from the connector under the seat, that is as far north as i have gone due to fear of pulling the tank and tracing the wires down as they go to the front, switch, or dash area. thanks though

It sounds like a bad canoodler valve.....

....I would bet relay, I just saw your scoot is a '94, they didn't have canoodler valves yet

Have you checked the wiring behind the headlight? I have a 1991 and had the same problem. It was a broken connection but still inside the multi-wire plastic connector so it was difficult to find. good luck.
