Fuel Octane for 2007 Sportster
Hi,
What grade of
fuel do you recommend for a 2007 Sportster Custom? should I use the highest (92)?

I always use the highest grade possible. The couple of times I've been forced to use a lower grade (gassing up in a small town) I could hear pinging.

I'd go with what the owners manual says and go with 91 or better.

That's curious. Why would the change to EFI in 2007 cause a need for higher octane fuel on the 883 models? As far as I know, the engine, compression ratios etc etc remained the same.

I run 92-93 even 94 if I can find it. I never go below 92 on my bikes.

It has to do with with a change in ignition timing on EFI motors to provide a better fuel burn. I "assume" that is all related to HD going to EFI to provide a cleaner burn to meet the EPA crap.

okiee dokie. Glad I have a carb. EFI will be a much better mouse trap, once they finally figure out how to tune and adjust the damn things.
