If you have knocking then you need to stop running it and tear it back down. You need to check everything out before you really do some damage. You should be able to see what ever is causing it. Just turn things over by hand if damage is not visible. I know that sucks but it is the only way to fix it. There are so many things that can cause a knock and without being able to hear it I would just be guessing. Bad wrist pin, extremely worn cylinder, something amiss in the head, things like that. Not really hard to diagnose once you get everything off.
