My 2009 XL1200N w/RSD 12" Apes and RSD 3" Risers
Hey all! Well after much time and beer I finally finished my new bars so I figured I'd post up some pics for ya'll to see!
First the specks of what I did...
Bars: RSD 12" Vintage Apes
* Sandblasted the powder coat off the knurling to expose more bite then coated with a black lacquer to prevent rust. Works like a dream!!!
Risers: RSD 3"
* No customizing was needed on these. They clear the tank hardover right and left perfectly!!!
Wiring: HD Part # 70239-07
* I cut to my needed length, repined each wire and internally wired them through the bars. It was a bit of a pain but with patience and a cold rocky... I got it done!
Hand Grips: Avon Old School Grips
* No customizing, these fit the bike perfectly in terms of style and fit. They're about 1/2" shorter than the OEM grips and a bit fatter in girth, I personally like it because you have a better sense of "grip" when holding on.
Mirrors: HD XL1200N OEM
* Just flipped them for now...
Air Cleaner: HD OEM
* Sprayed it while it was off
Speedometer: Relocated OEM
* Moved it to the common left side but I utilized a bit of a different set up. I went off the screw that holds the coil in place. It allows me to see my speedometer without having to move my head and has perfect clearance. Idiot lights are also mounted utilizing the same bracket.
Cables: Throttle, Idle, Clutch, Break
* After setting the bars and measuring I determined that +8 over stock was the way to go on everything and I was right. More than enough room for clearance and no binding.
The new bars and risers are SUPER COMFY as far as riding position goes!!! I'm soooo psyched that I finally got em on! Oinker helped me out with a few part ideas and tips along the way so hats off to him as well!!
Tell me what you think and don't be afraid to post any questions in this thread about the process, I'd be happy to help!!!
Now for the pics!!!
