Performance pipes that look awesome!
If I do an NRHS 88ci kit on my nightster what pipes should I go with? I have V&H Shortshots now and I hear they aren't great on the performance side. I also see that V&H has a competition series pipe thats all blacked out and from what I've read is good. Could I go with anything radical like a twisted choppers 2into1 style exhaust and get performance from it? Any thoughts are gladly appreciated!

For performance, a 2 into 1 is really the only way to go. I use RB Racing 2 into 1 pipes. I love that sound and the performance too! I have bought three sets of pipes for three different Sportsters from them. I have a 1250 kit from NRHS that I have not found the time to install on one of my Sportsters just yet, but I can't wait until I do!

I have the Competition series 2-1. I like them, but the tuning is proving to be somewhat difficult. See post: Hooray...Dyno Sheet.
There is the dip in torque right at the back side of the bottom end entering the midrange. These pipes are wonderful, sound great, look awesome, but truly appear to be geared for top end, higher rpm riding. If that is not your riding style, i would personally advise a set of 2-1 pipes that are full length. You would be able to get more torque (no/ less dip) out of your low end for daily riding, but still have the grapes for when they are needed, maybe the thunderheader.
If you tend to ride it like you stole it (I do) the V&H Comp. 2-1 pipes are great.

them twisted 2 into 1s are the ones on ebay correct? them are cosmetic pipes no better than and probably worse than stock pipes, them ebay twisted 2 into 1s are backyardigan crap with no back pressure or f--kall, they're basically a set of mean looking headers, waste of good money you could make yourself in the garage with a coat hanger n a torch which probably all that ebayer did. if you can afford it them RBracing pipes are the best, but thunderheader, kerker and force makes awesome 2 into 1 pipes too, i'd look for stainless steel pipes and/or ceramic pipes.

Yeah I figured as much but these days you never know till you ask or try it yourself ya know? I have seen some weird looking things that outclass namebrand stuff in the car world so i figured I would ask around. I have been looking at those LSR RB 2into1 pipes and damn they look awesome and the reviews are great! RB Racing has definately got a very informative site too!!! I'll spend the cash knowing I'm gonna have a great product!!!! Now I can't wait to get that 88ci kit and stage 3 heads up and running!!!

I spoke with a V&H rep about it, and ordered the new Blackout 2 in 1 exhaust with the hopes of obtaining some higher numbers, hp/tq. I've been waiting over 2 months for them to arrive and they should be in by the 20th of May. I'll be sure to post pics and dyno numbers. I'm going with a Ness Big Sucker II and TTS Mastertune also all in the name of performance. It should work but I have no idea how much.
