48 suspension
My new 48 is beating me to death. Each crack in the road fills like a speed bump. I definetly need to soften my suspension somehow. I would appreciate any advice, such as different shocks. etc. thanks

check and see if your lower shock collers are cranked up , mine were , i went to all soft and it rides alot better , im on a iron and run about 180 or so

48 shocks, just like the nightster/iron shocks are not the most forgiving since they don't have enough spring travel. They are 11" stock giving you about an 1" of travel.
Few options out there. Just a couple are: Works performance shocks (custom built to your liking, and not as expensive as you might think for custom shocks...check out their steel trackers) Progressive 412s, 430s, or 440s, depending on your budget. I currently have the 412s but am going to swithc them out soon. Travel is not enough and going a different route with the bike. Both Progressives and Works are highly recommended over stock. Just make sure you get longer shocks. Go with a 12" or longer. |
Thanks, I only weigh about 138, so not much weight too work with

correction. I mean 128

Get rid of the midget behind you punching you in the kidneys at every bump in the road.
RK 12" shocks and ride! |
progressive does not have an application for the 48 yet, i thought they would be the same as the nightster but my dealer tells me different

What do they know? If you can taker a close look at the $*'s rear end then the Nightster or an Iron, should be same setup as most sporties... A lot of people are moving to road King shocks because of the improved ride quality. I am sure they are not like air ride, but are amazing I think, and I can;t wait to go home and try mine out.
