Question New harley owner blank canvas

I just picked up a 2008 883L with 200 miles!!!

I want to kind of change things up get rid of the stocky factory feel that I got going on here, so that being said

I want to get a new air filter and get rid of the stock one, also thinking about new pipes!

As veterans of the HD forums I am wanting to know what brands should i think about getting!

Also I have rebuilt one bike, 1980 honda cm 400T and did a crappy custom build on a 2004 honda shadow 600VLX, both of which have carbs.

My question is what do I need to do once I install a new air filter and new pipes to make sure the engine is running properly.

Also, I freaking hate to sound like a noob but I have to ask questions to learn, seeing as I dont know anything at all about harley's, what are the plugs attached to the stock exhaust on the bike and what happens to those plugs once a new exhaust is installed?

Also in doing more research would a vance hines & fuelpak be a solid option after installing pipes and air filter?

From the site they say its easy to install and no need for dyno

THose plugs are o2bungs and upon purchasing new pipes make sure you get the one specific to your model year, they will have the bungs. Vance and hines is a quality pipe and yes once you change the pipes and air cleaner a fuelpak would be required.

shouldn't need the O2 bungs if your putting a power commander in there. i'm not running them on my 08. air cleaners are up to you as there are many styles out there and depends on what look you want. same thing goes fr the pipes. find a style you like and most likey there is a download available for them from power commander. unless you're a bit savvy with pc's and power commanders i'd recommend letting the shop tune it. noticed you're a noob too so welcome to the neighborhood. don't be double posting same **** in 2 diff. threads though...that's a good way to get the hdforum police after you. cheers!

yeah about that I was having trouble figuring out how to delete my threads a post dude to the fact I was posting from my phone at work.

Now if I was to just go with pipes would I still need a power commander?

Also if I don't use the O2 bungs on the new pipes then would be no use for the VH fuelpak right?

you absolutely want to put on a fuel management system. the best mod on my bike (and i have modded just about everything!)-
doesnt have to be expensive, but the bike will run like it should instead of how the factory and our govt wants it to run!
this is what i am running:

Thats a good looking bike. If it were me, I'd lose the reflectors and frame stickers, get one of the low offset speedo mounts. Laydown the plate bracket closer to the fender and ride the holy **** out of it.

you do not need a fuel management system if you're just putting pipes on.

Sharp lookin' ride. welcome aboard; now, open your wallet wide and watch those dollar bills fly out. But, it'll be fun, lol.
