I have seen the TSM (TSSM) cause this problem. The sensor that measures lean angle and will shut off the motorcycle if it tips over is in this module.

ground to battery good (could not move it with a wrench)
cleaned both battery term. with a SS brush, unplugged the the gray box on the fender, the small one right at the top of the ground (battery) and the plug at the bottom of the frame. what relay are you talking about ? is it the small on next to the breaker ? plugged every thing back together and it stared right up now what ?

There is a ground connection next to the starter. Make sure it's clean and tight. My 06 has done this 4 times in 82,000 miles. The problem is so intermittent, I haven't been able to find the cause. I know of 2 bikes that had problems with this ground wire going to the starter. The wire had internal breaks and had to be replaced.

Next time it happens look at your speedo and see if it drops to 0 while your still moving. If so you've got a power problem if not it's most likely somewhere else, relay, ign module etc...

Ride it! Not sure how many relays the '08 models have. The '07 has 2 of 'em. One is the Starter Relay, and the other is the System Relay. System Relay provides the juice to the good stuff that allows the bike to run.

Here's some part numbers for the relays:

OEM was an Omron 2165A21A
NAPA is AR614
ABC Auto parts is STD RY302. It was listed as a '03 GMC Envoy part.

Sooie, the first thing to get is a service manual. 2nd is a good multi-meter and a heat gun. Check the crank position sensor cold, then hot(heat gun).
