it sounds like you may be a little vertically challenged...lol...it really depends on what look you're after. the low has some different features like mid controls, 19" front wheel and cast aluminum wheels> compared to the custom with forward controls, 21" front spoked wheel, and slotted disc rear wheel. you can get progressive shocks to lower the rear end to fit you better if you like the custom features better. both carry the 4.5 gal tank for extended runs and plenty of chrome. unfortunately it'll have to be your choice to weigh out. good luck and let us know which way you go.

Get the Low. If it fit and felt right when you sat on it, that's the one. "Listen" to the bikes when you are around them. They will talk to you and tell you what is right.

Consider this: You will undoubtedly feel the need to accessorize down the road. If you want forward controls, you can add them to the Low. You can also simply add highway pegs for a fraction of the cost or the control conversion.

I might get flamed for trivializing the differences like this but between the Low and Custom, the biggest differences to focus on (for the general rider) are the different styled handlebars and foward versus mid controls. The Low and Custom are pretty close in height. You are only talking about in inch or so max even with aftermarket seat combos.

I've got both and they are both great bikes. But if you sat on the Low and it felt right, it would seem counterintuitive to get the Custom and then spend money to convert features to the way you liked them on the Low. That kind of sounds like reverse engineering. Save that dough for some other goodies.

Good luck. Post pics when you get it.

I read your post and can't figure out what the debate is. It sounds like the Low is the bike for you.

If the 1200L fits, take it. I have a 1200XLC and lowered it with Progressive 11" Shocks so I stand comfortably...I love it's looks, but one slight problem.
If I am not careful on my turns, I greind the pipes.

By the one that fits. Afterall, you will be riding it, not just looking at it.
