i was beside the bike , it had an electrical problem(bad battery cable ) and stopped running while riding i got off the bike to work on the cable forgot too put it in neutral when i got power back i hit the starter and off it went
i was somewhat pissed , i thought there was a failsafe too prevent stuff like that , fortunatly no one was around it and no property damage i had pulled over into a parking lot.

It happens to the best of us... all my sportbikes have the clutch interlock but my '03 XL1200C didn't. But the good thing is that I always sit on my bike and pull in the clutch when I start it.

So the one time I brain farted and pushed the start button with the bike in gear and no clutch... it lurched forward violently, my finger came off the starter button immediately, and I held onto the bike. Never do that again!

[quote=Pagan48]It's a "lets talk to the law department (Lawyers) about this and try to reduce our liability. Mostly because there are any number of people who will do something stupid like try to start the bike in gear without pulling in the clutch and then find a lawyer to file a lawsuit against HD alleging that the company should have known of the danger and is therefore liable for $$$. It's the American way unfortunately. [quote]

could a been a lawsuit there PAGAN had he been on the bike! thank god you weren't
