Sounds great to me.I am glad to here that you were up my way for Americade at Lake George. Thats quite an event. Of course I live on up in the lake Placid tri lakes area, but we try to hit ameracade each year. This year we coudnt make it. My riding partners ( Dad and my little brother) had to work. I am disabled and can't work, but I wasn't going to go without them. It would be ruining a tradition, not to say rubbing it in their faces, but, hopefully we will be there this year.

I would prefer to go cross country in a suburban over a cavalier/chevette econo box.
If all could afford to own was some econo box better to have a vacation in that then no vacation. Same to be said about bikes. Why do people insist on thinking 883cc is a small bike when it is at the beginning of the large bike displacement? I remember when 400 - 650 were considered mid sized. I have read stories on AV rider of people flying to India and SE Asia renting India built 350 single cylinder Royal Enfields, taking road trips on the worse shape roads and conditions of anywhere. Got the time, got the money, are the only questions you ask yourself. |
Yup,,,Back In the day when I got my 750F I was Mister Bad Azz,,,
for about a week,,, That 750 would to 80 Till the tank got low,,, would do 115 to.. Next biggest Bad Azz bike In the hood was an 850 WhooHooo.. Maybe It would help if people rememberd an 883 is only a few numbers below a 900.. I know a chick who wen't to her Grandma's house,,,bout 230 miles one way,,, On a 50 cc moped,,only stopped for gas n lunch.. Get with the program people,,, That little Harley is still an 883. |
Well, thanks for all the responses. If I don't have my new Heritage Softail classic by spring, I am going to change my seat, add a windshield, and a few other goodies. Then I am going to plan a month long touring trip. Gonna carry the minimum, Like a small tent, sleeping bag, ect... Then take off, and go see some places that I have'nt seen before. Gonna take my time and ride the seenic roads, and just downright enjoy myself and my bike.

Great idea and as Brett's story shows, its probably the best way to do it. Ive got a trip from London to Barcelona, Spain planned. giving myself 2 weeks for a return journey. no route planned. Figure id just make it up as i go along and see where i end up. All im taking is my sporty, map, channel tunnel tickets, toothbrush, tent and cash card. thanks guys for all the posts, really inspiring |
We ride two-up any given weekend 200 to 300 miles. In the late 80's I rode from Wisconsin to California on a Kawasaki LTD 450 .
