Default 1200 Low tank fit on a forty-eight?

Hi all, I was wondering is the tank from the a 1200 Low Sportster would just bolt right into a Forty-Eight sportster? The reason I ask this is the 48 has a 2.1 peanut, not big enough for me, but i love the front end on it, so i was thinking I could maybe swap the tank with that of a 1200 low which is 4.5 gallons, over twice as big.

Would it work no probs if both bikes are the same model year?

I'm sure the tank would bolt on, not sure how it would fit with seat on 48.

Direct bolt-on.

TekDiver is correct.

But man, that bigger tank will KILL the image of your 48 in my eyes. I'd much rather deal with filling up everyday.

I agree, but didn't want to get into stylistic choices, so I just spoke to whether it would work.

not the best mock up but I don't think it looks all that bad

I agree it does change the style of the bike though

Huh. That actually looks quite nice. Not a fan with those bars, but with some mini-apes or pull-back bars, that's a good look.

At least the 48 has a wide front tire to visually support the look of a wider tank

here is an alternative to the 4.5 which will need a tank install kit and different seat.
This is a 3.3 nightster tank that is a direct bolt on.

That is incorrect. The 3.3 gal will NOT need special install - it is ALSO a direct bolt-on. As for a special seat, that is as well INCORRECT. This picture shows a stock 48 seat with a 3.3 nightster tank. No mounting points are different between a Nightster and 48.
