Maybe you need a Goldwing
I cannot believe the amount of posts
& comments regarding the "poor ride"
of the sportster and how they need
different springs, shocks & seats..
My "48" is completely stock off the
showroom floor, and I have taken
several road trips (the longest was
265 miles) and I have no problems
with Butt fatigue, or leg cramps or
any of the other complaints you all
have about the Sportsters...
WTF? You all need to grow a pair or
get you a Goldwing, or even better.
a Smartcar.

Glad to hear it works just fine for you, but that bike isn't a perfect fit for everyone. ie: height, weight, reach etc.
The problem is that some people expect the bike to do everything well and then complain when it doesn't.
I've made changes on mine to suit MY needs but I don't complain. My bike was built to achieve a certain look and that comes at a price in terms of handling and comfort and I accept that.
However, HD could have done a better job and turned out a far superior product. Like all mfgs. today though, they will only make it good enough to get by. But again, I accept that, that's just how it is.
A Sporty IS WHAT IT IS it was never meant to be a road sofa.

265 miles is an afternoon ride for icecream. The stock suspension is barely adequate. I replaced mine for handling improvements, not comfort. I agree about the Gold Wing. If you wanna look good ride a Harley. If you want to be comfortable...
See ya on the road granny. I'll try to keep up.

My *** took a pounding (no pun intended) the first day I drove my Nightster home and you know what? I still love my bike, like what Ni-Ster said, the bike isn't perfect, and I'm okay with that but at the same time I'm not gonna be in denial and pretend that the bike needs no modifications whatsoever to make it a better ride. Before buying my bike I sorta knew what I was getting into, everything has its pros and cons.

love my ride, and happy to admit that i made it mine-
seat the way i like, springs the way i like... air going in the engine (sucker) the way i want it, air coming out of the engine (pipes) the way i want it to sound.
even have removable bags and windshield- for the longer road trips.
i love the look of the stock bikes, but i also love the look of mine. never intended a soft or quiet ride with mine. just wanted to tweak it to make it work for how i ride.
i get that its a personal thing, and fully respect your thoughts- i like mine the way it is now, and i get that you like yours the way it is too. they are both sportys and i proudly wear my harley emblems (although i did change them to the more retro look!!)

True, but if Harley put out the perfect
bike, the aftermarket companys would
go out of business, Not to mention the Harley
parts counter..That HD not only means
Harley Davidson but it also means hundred
dollars every time you step up to the parts counter
