Default buell heads or nitrous?

I have a 08 sportster and i have done a few small mods to it like the pro tunner, vance & hines and racing intake. But I am looking for more power now want to know some opinions on the buell heads and nitrous, which one would be better. I could do either by myself.

Look at replacing the cams first. You will be surprised at how much more you can get out of a cam-upgrade.

First, a lot depends on whether you have an 883 or 1200. The 1200's, since 2004, come with Buell heads.
Go for headwork, then you match the cams to the heads. Cams won't buy you much with stock heads.

As cHarley said. If you own a 1200, it comes with the Buel heads. The heads just need a little port and polish work. Cams to match. Nitrous will give you the best bang for your bucks.

I'd recommend some forged pistons with nitrous, cause cast pistons can only handle so much abuse. I've never known a nitrous guy to stick with just small jet's cause you get hooked on the power and want more until it's goes BOOM then you back it down one jet size after the rebuild.

I just pulled my forged pistons out of my Ford 302 engine after 10 years of 275HP shot's of nitrous from idle launches and they still look great.

On my Suzuki dragbike I shoot either a 36 or 60 shot with forged wiseco pistons and they look great too.

There's a saying for Nitrous, Forged pistons make a bad tune look good, cast pistons make a bad tune look really, really bad.

Thanks for the suggestion, I will look into the pistons. When you went with the new pistons did you have to change anything else?

All you need to do is port the heads bump the compression and dump those V&H pipes unless you have there 2-1 pipe.
