Default forward to mid mounted controls for xl1200c

Is is possible to change over from the standard factory forward foot controls on a 2009 XL1200C to mid-mounted controls and if so how easy is it?

I don't see why not.. but you might have an issue with your exhaust, I'm not really sure.. my 98 came with mids and still has them..

Yes and fortunately for you, you can pick a set up off eBay for like $50.

Forwards are more expensive. Also, stuff for our era bike is also more expensive. Go figure. I bought my mids from a guy on this forum.

I keep thinking about going with forwards.. but I don't want to spend that kind of money on them and find out there not comfortable for me or too much of a reach.. So.. I'll stick with my mids until then..

I tried to PM you, but your profile will not allow PMs or emails.
I just took off the mids on my 09 883L and put on forwards.

I swapped forwards for mids on my '05 Custom (same set-up as '09). If you have factory exhaust head pipes there's no issues. It's not that difficult to do. The trickiest bolt is the one on the brake rod behind the front muffler. You'll want a set of cir-clip pliers to remove the footpeg stalks. A little mirror might help, too. I just used the reflection in the chrome. Don't let your brake pedal slam into your exhaust when the brake rod bolt is removed. The mids only lasted about one day on my bike. I absolutely hated them, but it was an easy swap.
