New guy on board, with fender Question.

My first HD, it's an 08 XL 1200C. I'd like to start the winter modding with a bob tail fender. Is a Nightster fender a direct bolt on? how about the 48 fender? I realize a tail light relocation will be necessary.
Go easy on me, I'm new.
Thanks, and howdy,

Yes. They'll swap. If you get a run/brake/turn module it'll turn your 2 wire turn signals into tail lights like what the Nightsters have as well...

But the Nightster fenders aren't "bob tail". They're just bobbed. A bob tail fender is a little different look.

Welcome aboard!

I believe the nightster, iron, and 48, all have the same fender except for '10 and up has no ecm cutout.

Great, could anyone give a heads up on a part supplier, part number. And yes "bobbed" is what I'm looking for.

Thanks guys.

The Nighster / Iron / 48 fenders comes in a kit in the HD cataloge. You can check it out online on the HD site. I believe it comes with the light conversiion wire but you need to buy the license plat conversion also.
They also have a bobtail kit.

Complete "bolt-on" fender kit includes everything you need to convert your '04-later Sportster® model to the chopped rear fender look. Available in Vivid Black or primed finish, this kit can be installed with simple tools and requires no frame modifications or fabrication. The chopped fender eliminates the traditional tail lamp, and replaces the Original Equipment rear turn signals with "stop-turn-tail" lights for a clean, stripped-down appearance. All you need to add is a side mount or under-fender mount license plate bracket (sold separately).

Fits '04-'06 and '10 XL models. Stock on XL1200N, XL1200X and XL883N. Requires separate purchase of Side Mount License Plate Assembly P/N 60318-07, 60947-10 or 60972-10. NOTE: Laws regarding the location of the license plate vary from place to place. Please check with local authorities and obey all applicable laws and regulations.

Well that will do it..... Thanks guys for not telling me that the search button is my friend, and that I'm a dumb ass for not knowing that.

This mod could get a little spendy, and will perhaps make me wonder why I didn't purchase a Nighster in the first place. Well I don't know the answer to that.
