Default 1997 1200 sportster

just put the leads on,for a battery tender.
there is a little cover right by the battery box with 3 screws in it,
what is the right way to take it of and put it back on,and yes i will get a
manual best advice ever.

Just unscrew it. mine came off easy except for one bolt...it was a bitch and stuck to the rubber so i just pulled it out and fixed it once it was off.

You don't need to undo those three screws. You just pull on the cover, as the three screws are attached to rubber gromets/nipples that just pop in & out of the holes for quick access to your fuse panel.

His ignition is under that cover and his fuse panel is under his seat.

OK, I couldn't remember when they switched the panel to under there.
