Default howzit

On the Nightster I lifted mine about 3 inches and didn't use risers no problem it does depend on the amount of bend on the bar I've only got a 30 deg bend.

This is simple mathematics. Reread your question and you will be able to answer it on your own.

No, it won't - how are you lifting your tank? There are a lot of pricey kits out there, but all you need is to buy 2 U bolt assemblies with a 2" spread, discard the bolt and paint the sheet metal piece black - those are your risers - $4 total, add a few nuts and bolts that you probably already have lying around and you're good to go, for less than a bowl of soup.

While you're under there, lift the tank up as far as you can and look around, then unhook the gas line (it is a quick disconnect), and flip the tank all the way up - look around again because you're soon going to want to relocate your coil and ignition as most of us have, and you'll get to know the wiring. Then after you relocate the coil, you're going to want to remove most of the plastic housing assembly between where the coil was and the frame to clean things up. Then.... then....then....
