Well I for one will be keeping my 2.1 gallon peanut tank on my 48! I like the look of the small tank. Sucks stopping for gas every 70 miles, but usually need to rest my butt anyways by then. The only thing I want to do is repaint it to get rid of the Sportster logo.

Tank repainted with vintage Harley tank badges, may not be everyones cup of tea but sure as hell looks better than the factory graphics!

Sportster Spence, your bike looks sweet with the vintage emblems. If I don't metal flake my tank, thats what I will do also.

Thanks Chad, I've followed and loved your mod's while I was doing mine and although we've done many similar things our bikes look totally different!

I've tried to give mine an old school vibe, going to change the bars next for some black narrow beach bars which I think will look cool and a little different from everyone else.

I used to dislike to the little peanut tank, but after they came out on the 48, I can't fathom wanting to replace it. I own an ultra limited, so the fuel range isn't important on my 48. I LOVE the small tank and mounting bracket. That being said, I don't care for the factory decal on the tank so I am going to have it painted. I really like the look of the big "bass boat" style metal flake paint, so I am going to do that in gold, and leave the fenders and other tins black. I like my Limited, but I really like my 48 with its little tank!

It is ergonomics...
The small tank makes you get off and gas up ,just before the vibrating thing erases your butt
A-freakin'-Men on keeping the small tank! I'm ready to stretch my legs by the time the tank needs filling any way!
